Day 1 – What is your name? Were you named after someone else? Do you like your name?
It’s Melati Nurguritno. “Melati” was from my mom, and “Nurguritno” was from my dad. Obviously I was named after a flower, a beautiful flower, my country national flower : Melati. “Nur” means light, and “Guritno” is the fusion of my parents name, Gunawan and Retno, well with a lil bit modification. “Guritno” is also a name of a king from somewhere in Java, i don’t exactly remember where. well, my name supposes to mean a beautiful flower that will be the light for the family.
I like my name. although my name not as unique as my sister or my brother but i still like it. no, in fact i love it. it still have a sense of uniqueness yet so beautiful. it kind of a mix of a girl’s and a boy’s name.
funny story, when i was in kindergarten i ask my mom to change my name into “Sarinah”. good thing my mom didn’t listen to me, seriously past melati, what kind of a name is “Sarinah”?? like a name of a monkey.
well, i can’t imagine having name other than this beautiful name my parents gave me :)
